An appropriate qualifications that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist; MBChB degree or equivalent, FC Ophth(SA) and MMED. Current registration and registration certificate with the HPCSA as an independent medical specialist in Ophthalmology. Grade 1: No experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist. Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA. Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA. Inherent requirements of the job: Participate in the after-hours call system (commuted overtime is compulsory). Good leadership skills, excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and good interpersonal skills. Work independently and under pressure. Work well within the Ophthalmology department and the hospital as a team leader. Incumbents must demonstrate understanding of policies and procedures that govern the public service. Draft operational plans and Standard Operating Procedures in line with the legislative framework. Demonstrate computer literacy in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to compile presentations and draft professional reports.
